Hello everyone!  Here’s the latest on The Curiosity Cache actual play game set in the Scarred Lands.

Episode 2 premiered on Friday,  February 21st, and the characters found themselves facing some of the darker opinions found in the Scarred Lands.  You see, Shelzar itself is a melting pot of a city, and you will probably find examples of any race that exists on Ghelspad.  With that, however, you also find an increased presence of the Calastians, whose viewpoint of non-humans tends to be pretty grim.  Calastians are open slavers, and many non-humans report having been attacked while within the borders of the Calastian Hegemony.  Why High Minister Fratrelli, the open ruler of Shelzar, has allowed these people to open an embassy within the city is anyone’s guess.

Now, it was not my immediate intention as the DM to introduce the Calastian presence beyond the rumors that have been swirling about the newly opened embassy, and the increased presence of armed groups of Calastians walking about the city.  However, on the stream we have a random event trigger that signals either a good or bad occurrence happens.  That trigger is my dog barking.  During Episode 1, she did so, and we rolled randomly to see if the event would be good or bad, with the result coming up bad.  As this was happening, Friede was just passing by some Calastians, and that random event trigger got them very interested in the strange little fey creature made of ice.  So some of the Calastians returned and waited across the street in the Plentiful Cup, watching the employees of the Curiosity Cache, all of which are non-humans (except for one NPC, Najeeda).  When the player’s decided to head over to the Cup, the Calastians took the opportunity to attempt to provoke the group into a physical confrontation, hoping they could use it against them.

Fortunately for them, our characters are a bit more mindful of things than the ill-meaning NPC’s, and they avoided a fight that might bring harsh ramifications upon them.  However, a fight still found them later that night as intruders broke into the Curiosity Cache.  While the characters fought with the intruders, one of them mysteriously disappeared, taking the huge statue that sat in the store front with them.  In the workshop, Pratchya and Friede managed to take down one of the assailants, but not before Pratchya took a table leg to the face.  Now, the body of an orc woman lies in a spreading pool of blood in the back of the shop, while the other intruders have escaped.  Who were these cloaked figures, and what did they want?  Tune in on Friday, February 28th, at 4:30pm Easter, live on the Twitch channel to find out!
